Net zero by 2035

As a logistics business we have a huge responsibility to the environment.

You can’t manage what you don’t measure so since 2022 we have measured our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions to help deliver our reduction plan. We’re also collaborating with Glasgow Caledonian University to look at innovative ways to reduce our carbon footprint still further. And we guarantee to be carbon net zero by 2035.

-42% energy

We have cut energy use by 42% annually with a new boiler and LED lighting.

-32% carbon

Our energy reduction has reduced our overall carbon emissions by 32%

0% landfill

Zero waste to landfill. We have recycled more than 4,500 cardboard boxes.

Real Living Wage

Sustainability is also about people, we’ve been a Real Living Wage employer since 2022.

Our net zero 2035 roadmap

After teaming up with Glasgow Caledonian University, we’ve ramped up our site operations, processes, and environmental management system to hit net zero by 2035. Engaging with stakeholders—community, suppliers, clients, experts, and our own employee sustainability group—has been crucial.

We’ve set short, medium, and long-term goals, and we update our progress every year.

Projects

“A recent project was to shred cardboard waste from delivery cases to replace plastic void fill. As well as reducing carbon emissions this also removes post-consumer plastic waste.

“We installed an energy efficient boiler and introduced LED lighting which reduced our energy consumption this year by 42% which is equivalent to 28 tonnes of CO2e (scope 1 and 2).”

Real Living Wage

Move Fresh is proud to be a Real Living Wage employer since 2022.

The Real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate calculated according to the costs of living. Employers choose to pay the real Living Wage on a voluntary basis, recognising the value of their workers and ensuring that a hard day’s work receives a fair day’s pay.

Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 52,000 people in Scotland and put over £310 million extra into the pockets of low paid Scottish workers.
